French Academie of Ballet will hold Virtual Summer Workshops in 2021 with a probable in-person Summer Workshops.
Online registration will close four days before the audition.
The French Academie of Ballet will offer three workshops; Our Summer Workshops will each teach and focus on one area of the French Technique of Ballet.
You will have the choice between enrolling for one, two, or three of the Summer Workshops.
Classes will be held from approximately 1:00 pm-4:30 pm Eastern Time via Zoom. Class size will be limited.
We will decide to hold in-person Summer Workshops in May 2021 concerning local health guidelines.
Students enrolled in the Virtual Summer Intensives will be given priority to enroll in the in-person Summer Intensives.
Through summer 2021, we expect that there will be continued guidance by the New York City Department of Public Health that may include regular Covid testing, wearing masks in class, physical distancing, and smaller class sizes.
We will adjust our planning to provide the best programming possible with the highest consideration for our students' health and safety.
Students will be expected to adhere to all of the French Academie of Ballet's protocols to participate in the Summer Session. Summer Session programming and dates are subject to change.
Advance registration is required for all online auditions. All times listed are Eastern Time Zone (New York).
Please keep in mind the following for your Summer Intensive Audition:
Registered students will receive an email with a unique link to their audition class.
The audition class will open ten minutes before the start of the class.
The class will follow a usual technique class format. It will begin with barre, followed by center work and pointe work/men's work if appropriate. Lessons will be suitable for a small space.
Classes will have an instructor and an adjudicator.
Students will be assigned an audition number in the audition class. We will rename students with their numbers at the start of the class.
Students are to abide by the following dress code for their audition:
Girls must wear solid colored leotards, full-length tights in pink or a color close to natural skin tone, and ballet slippers. Bring pointe shoes for the last twenty minutes of class.
Boys must wear white t-shirts, full-length black tights, and ballet slippers.
Please keep in mind that faculty will be viewing you through a screen, so dancers should aim to have the cleanest look possible.
